
Lela Grace Welty Geer, age 84, of Ontario, died January 27, 2001 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born April 11, 1916 on the family farm near Lucas and was a 1932 graduate from Lucas High School and a life long resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law with whom she made her home, Marlene and Edward Sapp; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Loeta Geer of Ontario; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Roni Sapp of Havelock, N.C., Lynda and Mark Morris of Ontario, Lisa and Tim Hambly of Mansfield, Eric and Diane Sapp of Columbus, Matthew and Kris Geer of Mansfield, Micah Geer of Mansfield and Stephanie Geer of Ontario; nine great grandchildren, Jenna and Rachel Sapp of Havelock, N.C., Kyle and Kerri Morris of Ontario, Christopher and Shannon Kiser of Mansfield and Anissa, Shaun and Mary Sapp, all of Columbus; one brother-in-law, Paul Isch and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur and Pearl Cross Welty; her husband, Dee Geer in 1998 with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage; three brothers, Lester, Francis and Kenneth Welty and two sisters, Ruth Whitinger and Goldie Isch.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday, January 30, 2001 from 6-9 p.m. where services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. conducted by her pastor, Dr. James Kelsey.
