Leo A. Berger, age 80, formerly of Mansfield, passed away Saturday April 25, 2009 at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio following an extended illness. Mr. Berger was born September 18, 1928 Sheffield, North Dakota to the late Joseph & Wilhelmina Lantz Berger. Leo was a very detail oriented person when it came to enjoying his favorite hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, and camping with the family. Mr. Berger served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Leo retired from Westinghouse Corporation.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen & Laurie Berger of Norwalk, Ohio and Paul & Deb Berger of Atlanta, Georgia; a grandson, Matthew Steven Berger; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack & Helen Berger of Wyoming; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Monica Fischer, Veronica & Ed Baar all of North Dakota and Cathy & Ed Barta of Montana and a host of nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lundgren Berger on May 2, 2007, his parents and nine brothers and sisters. The family wishes to thank all who helped in the care of Leo over the years.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for a donation to the Ohio Veteran's Home.
