

Leona M. Moffett, age 92, passed away early Monday morning, December 10, 2012 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born June 29, 1920 in Mansfield to the late Paul Sr. and Nora Elva (Swaidner) Beer.
Leona was a 1938 graduate of Madison High School and was raised in Mansfield. On February 14, 1940, she married John Moffett and they resided in Lucas. She retired from the Mansfield Richland County Public Library where she mended books and had previously worked at other Mansfield area businesses. Leona was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lucas for over 70 years where she was involved in almost every group and volunteer organization throughout the years. She enjoyed baking, especially apple pie and cakes, which she shared with many people. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and being in the company of family and friends.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Fred and Pat Moffett; five grandchildren, Dawn (Tim) Schuster, John Roach (Allie Gilmore), Deb (Jim) Yaroch, Brad (Kim) Moffett and Chuck (Mary) Moffett; eleven great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and special friends, Larry and Sherry Keinath. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Moffett; daughter, Mary Lou Moffett Roach; parents; and brother, Paul Beer, Jr.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A memorial service will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lucas. Dr. David Aune and Pastor Carol Kilgore will conduct the service. Burial will be at a later date in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 W. Main St., Lucas, Ohio.
