I've been sitting with the news since Sunday when I first found out. . . and I expect it has been a very trying week for you and your families. Even from a distance, both chronologically and geographically, I've found the loss of your mom, dad's aunt, my great aunt, to be quite real. While you undoubtedly have suffered a far greater loss than I, it seems worth communicating to you what a real and profound sense of love, along with a tender fondness, I hold for Leona. Some of my earliest memories involve visits to her house, many accompanied by sassafras tea and white chocolate covered pretzels. I will forever hear her voice saying "Terri Jo ... " and I feel a great fortune to have spent time with her with my family -- the one of origin as well as the one of my adulthood. She was extremely gracious to Wende and Eli and her warmth will always be with me.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Susan,  I was saddened to learn about your Mom's passing.  Try to remember the good times.  I'm recalling a time we were at your house on Plymouth Street playing with your doxie in the kitchen. I remember going to my grandmother Leona's house for holidays. She would give her grandkids Reese Pieces on the stairs in her house. I also remember whenever we greet her, would always kiss our cheeks and Ooohhh, Jonny and Jimmy. It was how she said it I will remember. I love my grandmother very much and I will miss her tremendously. Her memory will live on.

I remember going to my grandmother Leona's house for holidays and give all of her grand kids Reese Pieces on the stairs in her house. My grandmotherwas so sweet and lovable. Everytime my brother and I would go see her, she always kissed our cheeks. It was the way she kissed our cheeks. I am truly going to miss her. I love her so much. Her memory will live on!

My son Brian reminded me of the night we stayed over at your Lexington home when a snow storm stymied our getting home...of all the memories of Christmas visits with you and Uncle Roy...and, I will never forget your loving compassion with being my guardian at the passing of my parents Elvin and Mary Wolf those many years ago.  The family will long celebrate memories of your life as it mourns your passing.  --Terry Wolf

Dear Susan, I remember your mom only briefly but was touched by her hospitality. When visiting back in 1972, she gave up her own bed for me and slept on the sofa. She was kind and thinking of others. I'm sure you will miss the blessing that she was to you and others. You have a legacy to continue. May the Lord comfort you with His presence through this time of sorrow and as you miss her in the days and years ahead.

To me she was Aunt Leona, sister of my late father John Wolf.  I remember staying at Aunt Leona's house in Altoona PA when I was a kid.  She was always cheerful and welcoming.  We had a great time on those trips to the Wolf family home town back then, and in later years we joined the Wolf siblings, including Aunt Leona, at many family reunions at Juniata Gap near Altoona.  With Aunt Leona's passing there is only one surving Wolf sibling of the original seven.  But fortunately we are also blessed with many cousins and grandchildren and great grandchildren.  May Aunt Leona rest in peace.
