
Leslie K. Wagner Sr., 93, of Mansfield died Sunday evening, July 6, 2003 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Mr. Wagner was born June 28, 1910 in Mansfield and was an area resident all of his life. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and the Ohio State University. He studied law at the University of Michigan and graduated from the Law School of the University of Cincinnati in 1938. Mr. Wagner practiced law in Mansfield for fifty-one years, retiring in 1988 from the law firm of Wagner & Wagner. This firm included both sons. During his career, he served as Law Director of the city of Mansfield and in this capacity was instrumental in purchasing 5, 000 acres for the development of Lahm Airport and the creation of the Clearfork Reservoir. Mr. Wagner was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Kiwanis Club, Richland County and the Ohio State Bar Associations.
He is survived by two daughters, Joan Marquard and her husband, Dr. Robert Marquard, of Plymouth and Dr. Heidi Woodruff and her husband, Chris Woodruff, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two sons, Attorney Leslie K. Wagner Jr. and his wife, Jo, of Mansfield and Attorney James K. Wagner and Molly Meyer of Mansfield; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian L. and Dorothy Robinson Wagner; first wife, Mary Kathryn Winans Wagner in 1948; second wife, Betty Thompson Wagner in 1999; a sister, Virginia Wagner Holton in 2003; and a granddaughter, Leslie Marquard.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Paul L. Larson. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to the Betty T. Wagner Fund of the Richland County Foundation or the Mansfield Symphony.
