

Lewis Copley, 84, of Galion, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Signature Healthcare in Galion surrounded by his family. Lewis was born June 25, 1933 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He was the beloved son of Arvil and Gladys (Sammons) Copley.
Lewis was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and a humble, God-fearing, faithful Christian servant. He retired after 33 years from AK Steel, and proudly served in the United States Army. He was a Godly example to others in his Christian walk. Lewis was ordained in 1963 and was fundamental in establishing and guiding many ministers in Freewill Baptist Churches in Northern Ohio. He was a Pastor in many area churches during his Christian walk, and a role model to many throughout his life.
Lewis leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Wilma J. (Branham) Copley; his children, Donna Sue Stuart, Sharon Elaine (Danny) Thompson, Jerry Lewis (Patty) Copley, Jonathan Copley, and Connie (Doug) Crowe; eleven grandchildren, Lester Tucker III, Geneva Tompkins, Christopher Copley, Christina Sigler, Heather Wilson, Alex Copley, Danny Ray Thompson, Joshua Coon, Allison Henderson, Charlie and Emily Crowe; fifteen great-grandchildren, Erica Stuart, Elijah Tucker, Jonathan Stuart, Tommy Tompkins, Mary Beth Tompkins, Jacob Tucker, Melanie Wilson, Ashleigh Wilson, Emerson Copley, Evan Sigler, Thomas Copley, Austin Thompson, Ava Thompson, Micha McQueen, and Chloe Sigler; brothers, Herman, Don, Daniel and Kenny Copley; sisters, Helen Richie, Liz Garling, Della Werner, Evie Wilson, and Lil Johnson; and many friends and church family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva Copley; infant daughter, Debra Copley; and brothers, Kimble and Berl Copley.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church, 1602 Walker Lake Road. The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 am. His brother, Pastor Herman Copley and his son, Pastor Jerry Copley will officiate the service. He will be laid to rest in Franklin Church Cemetery.
