Lois never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and always had a supremely positive outlook on life. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren, leaving her family as her legacy. She tremendously enjoyed her friends that she played bridge with for so many years. Lois graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1947 and attended The Ohio State University. Lois was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Catholic Newcomers and was also a charter member of the Mansfield Garden Club. She joined Westbrook Country Club as a Junior Member, where she continued to play golf for 70 years. She was a world traveler, most notably spending about half of each year for the last 43 years in the Dominican Republic, all gracefully without knowing a single word of Spanish.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Michael Byrne; her children Terrence, Jeremiah, Laura (James) Weist, Leslie (David) Eichinger, Lynn Stone, Lisa (Mike) Bumb, Brian (Carol), Chris (Shawn) and 19 grandchildren.
The family would like to say thank you, from the bottom of their hearts, to the staff of Wedgewood Estates, OhioHealth Hopsice nurses, and OhioHealth Hospital nurses and doctors. From the phenomenal Doctors and nurses, to the exceptional room and food service, Lois was treated as if she were their own mother. Each and every individual went above and beyond their role in order to give Lois the care she deserved. The family was privileged to be served by such a wonderful group of people during this journey with Lois.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family. Contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice, 335 Glessner Ave, Mansfield, OH 44903. Cards of condolence may be sent to W. Michael Byrne, PO Box 444, Mansfield, OH 44901.
