
Lois Lorraine Laubscher Kanz, 88, died March 14, 2008, at Mifflin Care Center. She was born on October 28, 1919, in Mansfield, Ohio and was the daughter of Carl Sr. and Effie Laubscher. Lois graduated from Ontario High School in 1938. She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church in Mansfield. Lois had a passion for music and was a long-time member of the Sweet Adeline's as well as a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Sigma Kappa Gamma Sorority and a former member of the Civitan Club. Lois began her working career as a stenographer at the Ohio Public Service Company and later worked at the Ohio Brass. She retired from Laubscher's Jewelry Store.
Surviving are her husband, William Bill C. Kanz, whom she married May 6, 1949, spending 58 happy years together; daughter, Mary Lou Greg Navratil; two sons, Doug Fran Kanz and Paul Kanz and daughter-in-law, Carrie Kanz; four grandsons, Marc Kanz, Jason Kanz, Corey Poth and fiancée Jami Thompson and Jesse Kanz; eight great grandchildren; her twin brother, Carl Thora Laubscher, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Eva Oswalt; her brother-in-law, Eugene Deloras Kanz; and several nieces, nephews and many friends who will always remember her as a kind and gentle lady. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Ensign Denton Herber.
Memorial funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Chris Whitehead. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church. The family would like to thank the staff of the Mifflin Care Center for their generous care and support in helping Lois and Bill continue their life together until God called her home.
