
Luther B. "L.B." Gibson, 89, of Mansfield, passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Monday, September 17, 2018. He was born May 15, 1929 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, the son of Robert and Goldie (Bentley) Gibson.
L.B. served in Korea as a member of the United States Army. He retired from General Motors and was previously employed by Chrysler Motors in Detroit. An avid reader who loved to study and discuss the Bible, L.B. was a man of strong faith. He read and studied God's word daily most of his life. When he could not read, he could be found listening to the Bible. He was a man who cherished his family, and would do anything for them. He was a devoted husband, protective father, and fun loving grandfather. When he could, he loved to be outdoors walking in nature.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Gibson; sons, Mark (Gwen) Gibson and Michael (Lori) Gibson; grandchildren, Matthew (Mary) Gibson, Sarah (Chad) Thompson, Ryan and Kyle Gibson; and five great-grandchildren and one on the way, Seth, Gavin, Ella, Jackson and Landon. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, David and Goble Gibson; and sisters, Beaulah Boggs, Faye Rayburn, and Wanda Bloomer.
A private graveside service will be observed by his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Area Agency of Aging. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Gibson family.
