
Mabel R. Petty, 67, of 387 Spayer Lane died Monday afternoon, March 24, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Mabel was born April 30, 1935 in Athens, Alabama to Dude and Mary Fletcher Petty and was a Mansfield resident most of her life. She worked at Brown Derby Restaurant for twenty years before retiring.
She leaves to mourn her memory four children all of Mansfield, Venita Petty, Nakyra Petty, Larry Petty, and David Petty; foster child, Taianna Darks; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two special grandchildren, LaToya and Jamal Petty; three sisters, Pearline Petty and Marilyn Petty, both of Mansfield and Jeanette Bryant of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Samuel Petty, Frank and Eileen Petty, and John and Beulah Petty, all of Mansfield; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Sylvester and James Petty; and two sisters, Anita Walton and Cleo Petty.
Services will be held Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Baptist Church Inc., 538 Wayne Street with calling one hour prior to the service. Moderator-Pastor Clarence J. Sanderfer will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. The family will receive guests at the home of Frank and Eileen Petty at 284 Dudley Avenue. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
