Mamie Dell Hoke, age 60 of Mansfield died early Sunday, April 18, 2004, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born February 8, 1944, in Brownsville, Tennessee to Jack and Katherine McFarland Caldwell. Mamie was a dedicated member of Springmill Church of God in Shelby for many years, where she served faithfully until her illness prohibited her from serving the Lord in the way she was accustomed. Mamie was employed outside of the home for many years with Grumman/Flexible in Loudonville, Ohio where she retired, then she chose to do home day care, a profession she dearly loved. Her life could best be described as one of the practice of giving. She was always willing to expend herself for what she believed was a good, helpful and noble cause. Many were the family and friends who sought and found refuge in her home. A woman of humble means, Mamie was always willing to help others. Even though she drew joy from helping others, she realized the most important relationship she needed to repair and maintain was the one with God. Mamie was eternally grateful for having regained an approved standing with God.
She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband, Paul; a daughter, Renee George of Ormond Beach, Florida; five stepchildren, Sharon Camak, Paula Robert Windom, Stanley Hoke and his friend, Dinah Brookins, all of Mansfield, Victor Hoke of St. Louis, Missouri and Pam Rennie Russell of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Lashaunia 'Toy' Ronald Robinson of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Sable and Sierra Carter of Ormond Beach, Florida; one great-grandchildren, Tarasia 'Rudy' Palmer of Altamonte Springs, Florida; host of grand and great-grandchildren; five sisters, Sallie John Sylvester, Lorraine Smith of Mansfield, Lucy Taylor, Elsie Person and Hixie Hobb, all of Racine, Wisconsin; seven brothers, Calvin Maggie Caldwell, Dennis Evelyn Caldwell, Kermit Dorothy Caldwell, Eugene Lelar Caldwell and J.T. Frances Caldwell all of Mansfield, William Drucilla Caldwell of Ashland, and Curtis Debbie Caldwell of Columbus, Ohio; a very special niece, Eva Pickens, Antwan Parker whom she raised as her own; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Eva Shannon, Dorothy Parker, Thelma Allen and Ethel McGhee.
