Finally home with her Lord and Savior, Margaret M. Bogantz passed away at the age of 100 on June 30, 2019 at Wedgewood Estates in Mansfield, Ohio. Born January 1, 1919 in Ontario, Ohio, she was the seventh of eight children of Irma Leona (Conley) and Paul Gages, Sr.
Margaret recalled walking to the one-room Ricksecker school on Lex.-Springmill Road before its consolidation into Springfield Local Schools. Here she met and later married the love of her life, George W. Bogantz, both graduated from there in 1936, and together they shared 63 years of marriage. She attended the Mansfield Business School and worked as a secretary for Lumbermans Mutual Insurance and later as a secretary to the vice-president of Gorman-Rupp, Co. before becoming a full time homemaker after her husband's military service in World War II.
She was a charter member of Westwood Alliance Church where she taught Sunday School and VBS and served as church board secretary for many years. Margaret also enjoyed expanding her Biblical knowledge daily by listening to Bible studies and sermons by great preachers on the Moody Radio station, WCRF. A great fan of baked goods in general, she will be long remembered for her amazing homemade pies which graced nearly every special meal and family picnic.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband and one infant granddaughter. She is survived by two sons, Gregory A. Bogantz of Fairview, North Carolina and Gilbert (Melanie) Bogantz of Mansfield; one daughter, Jane (Doyle) Peyton, along with five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
