Margaret Mae Boyce, 88, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 after a battle with cancer. Born Margaret Mae Miu on May 15, 1935 in Mansfield Ohio to the late John and Mary (Tecsa) Miu. Margaret was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School in 1953 and Ashland College in 1957. She was the first in her family to graduate college and was one of the first pom-pom girls as Ashland College.
Margaret taught first grade for thirty years at Union elementary School and finished her career at Springmill elementary School and impacted many students lives and shared her love of reading with all of them. After retirement she worked for Century 21 Real Estate and at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Mansfield Ohio.
Margaret loved to read books, take casino trips and enjoyed cruises with her sisters as well as celebrating birthday dinners with family. She loved to plant flowers, garden, swim and going fishing. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her great grandchildren and her cats. Margaret was a second mother to many people and always let a multitude of musicians practice in the basement of her house and loved watching proudly the many performances that included Bryan, her son, playing drums and bass guitar.
She is survived by her granddaughter Lauren Boyce and fiancée Josh Whitley, daughter-in-law Michelle Graham, great grandchildren Joslynn and Raven Whitley of Mansfield, Ohio and honorary daughter Heidi Helser. She is also survived by brothers and sisters John Miu, Jeane Oster, Larry (Linda) Miu and Diane (John) Beer all from Mansfield Ohio.
In addition to her parents and her husband Arnold Boyce; she was preceded in death by beloved son Bryan Boyce.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of North Central Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Margaret’s family for the design of the memorial headstone.
A celebration of life will take place Friday, March 22, 2024 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Life Celebration Reception Center 129 S. Main St., Mansfield, OH 44902. Margaret will be laid to rest at Mansfield Cemetery beside her husband Arnold and son Bryan at a later date. The family would like to thank Wappner Funeral Home for handling the arrangements.
