

Margaret Woodrow Sellards Fulton (Peg), 98, of Ashland, died on July 31, 2013. She was born July 24, 1915 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the only child of Grace Cadwell (McAfee) Sellards and William Sands Sellards.
Margaret lived in Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School. She attended Ohio University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She then attended Ashland College pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. It was at Ashland College that she met her future husband.
Margaret married Edmund Godfrey Stanton Fulton on October 19, 1935 at the Second Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth and moved to Ashland where she became a homemaker. As her children became older, Margaret participated in various community affairs and was active in Trinity Lutheran Church. While a member of the Ashland community, she acquired the nickname of Peg and was known by most in the community as Peg. To her family, she always remained, Margaret.
Peg returned to Ashland University to complete her degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Osborn School for several years and then taught at Taft School. She retired from teaching after 25 years. She always enjoyed seeing former students and their families.
Peg was a volunteer with Hospice during its formative years and was a 38 year volunteer at Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of various garden clubs and book clubs. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bridge which she began in her high school years and carried through until her death.
Peg is survived by her children, Cynthia Cadwell Fulton of Ashland, Kay Stanton Fulton of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Edmund GS Fulton of Ashland; three grandchildren, David (Katy Doherty) Diffendorfer of Portland, Oregon, James (Amy King) Diffendorfer of Golden, Colorado and Sara (Richard) Winters of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four great grandsons, Adam Joseph and Ethan James Fulton Winters of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Max Edmund Charles Diffendorfer and Owen James King of Golden, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.. Private family interment will be held at Ashland Cemetery. The family will greet guests in the Narthex of the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in her memory be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, the Ashland County Community Foundation, 212 College Avenue, Ashland or the Beacon After School Program at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland.
