
Margaret Rachel Zody, 97, of Mansfield, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Margaret was born July 7, 1910 to the late Frank Whitney and Dora Rose Fry Blackford in Plymouth. She was a lifelong area resident, residing in Lucas the last 60 years. Margaret was the widow of Charles V. Zody, whom she married August 9, 1936. After graduating from Plymouth High School, she was employed at Shelby Mutual Insurance, Kobacker's Department Store, and Montgomery Ward. She retired from Ohio Edison in 1972. Margaret was also a former member of Royal Neighbors Lodge of Plymouth and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Lucas. She enjoyed her home, where she had been interested in sewing, knitting, baking, and other crafts over the years. Margaret enjoyed her special friends, Juanita Lehnhart and Shirley Rust, and keeping the family in line with her caring, feistiness, and sharp wit.
She is survived by one son, Maurice Nancy Zody; son-in-law, Carl Trease of Mansfield; daughter-in-law, Joyce Zody; eight grandchildren, Scott Zody, Jennifer Zody, Christopher Zody, Jeffrey D. Zody, Tonia Deal, Amber Zody, and Rachel and Stephanie Zody; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles V. Zody; two sons, Larry D. Zody and Frederick "Teddy" Zody; daughter, Elaine Gloria Trease; two grandsons, Shawn Zody, and Ace Trease; and two brothers, Robert and Frederick Blackford.
Friends may call form 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Brian Phillips with additional calling from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.
