
Marie Belt Arnold, 78 of Mansfield, died Tuesday morning, October 26, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Born October 31, 1925 in Ethel, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Samuel P. and Mabel K. Snodgrass Belt. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Ontario Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1958. She graduated from Charleston General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She retired from Peoples Hospital after 33 years of service as a registered nurse. Her primary interests were with her Bible studies, sharing her faith with others, and being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as Amy by her friends and family.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Dave Shook of Mansfield, and Elizabeth and John McCallister of Shelby; one son David T. Arnold of Shelby; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Katherine Strayer of Mattawan, Michigan, Alice Johnson of New Ellenton, South Carolina, Geraldine Hubbard of Thomas, West Virginia, and Ann Bandy of Mentor; and numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Thomas E. Arnold on April 6, 2001, two brothers, Preston J. Belt and Carl Belt, and one sister, JoAnn Belt.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday October 30, 2004 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1745 Walker Lake Road, Ontario, with Elder Robert Bandy, her brother-in-law, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
