Marie Onalee Daley, 87, of Ontario passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 10, 2013 at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. She was born January 17, 1926 in Birch Run, Michigan to the late J.D. and Ethel Elizabeth (Correll) Wilson.
Marie graduated in 1944 from Clio High School in Michigan. She married Henry Alex Daley on October 26, 1946 and they raised their family in the Ontario area. She worked during the 1950s as a bookkeeper for Ohio Brass, in the 1960s at Stingel Elementary School in the cafeteria as well as being a full time homemaker and mother. She enjoyed gardening-both flower and vegetable, canning, and spoiling her family with her delicious cookies, cakes and pies. Marie loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and was very happy to host large family dinners, birthday parties and picnics in the summer.
Marie successfully traced her family genealogy back to the American Revolution, a feat her family was most proud of. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jared Mansfield Chapter and the Ontario Mother's Club. She was a devoted member of Ontario United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was active in the Christian Women's Connection.
She is survived by four children, Carolyn (Robert) Barnes, Donna (Dan) Dials and Janet (Lloyd) Anderson, all of Ontario and James (Billie) Daley of Madison; six grandchildren, Christie Patrie, Roger Dials, Shari Dials, Aaron Dials, Matt Daley and Shena Colburn; and eight great-grandchildren, Nicole and Stephanie Patrie, Kendall, Ellie, Hope, Tim, Daulton and Nolan Dials. She is also survived by four sisters, Betty Latimer of Royal Oak, MI, Marlene Ruppel of Largo, FL, Lucille Gunnels of Millington, MI and Patricia Jacobs of Biloxi, MS; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry on March 26, 1998; grandchildren, Michael L. Anderson and Savannah Daley; and two brothers, James and Lewis Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A funeral service conducted by Pastor Peg Welch will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery.
