
Marion L. Burton, 80, of Mansfield, died early Monday morning, March 10, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Burton was born November 15, 1922 in Kitzmiller, Maryland residing in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from Hartman Electric as an electrical engineer. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #16; DAV Disabled American Veterans; a life member of Buckeye State #8; Amvets Post #26; a life member of Venus Lodge #152 F. & A.M., Richland County Scottish Rite Association, and Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Milt and Rhonda Burton of Mansfield; Rev. Dr. Dennis and Gay Burton of Monroe, NC; and Larry and Carol Burton of Ontario; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Doris Burton of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and Joseph and Nancy Burton of Massillon, OH; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and John Friend of Mansfield; and Betty and Bob Connell of Bellville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dora Burton; two brothers, Cecil Burton and James Burton; and one sister, Helen Swineford.
Friends may call at The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services, which will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dennis L. Burton. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
