
Marjorie Hitchman Hassinger, 88, of Mansfield, died Monday, November 18, 2002 at Country Meadows Care Center. She was born July 17, 1914 in Butler, a daughter of the late Albert and Jessie Lewis Hitchman and was a life-long area resident. Mrs. Hassinger had been employed as a telephone operator, working for Ohio Bell and later for United Telephone from which she retired. She had been a faithful member of the Four Square Gospel Church in Mansfield and enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter and a son-in-law, Evelyn and William Schneider of Mansfield; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Tammy Schneider of Mansfield, Dana and Daryle DuPaix of Las Vegas, Nevada, Scott and Janet Schneider of Mansfield and Lori Vohs of Kauai, Hawaii; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Divelbiss of Mansfield, Roxanna and Richard McAuley of Butler, Connie and Robert Workman of Ashland and Julie Sorquist of Butler; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Frankie Hitchman of Butler; and a sister-in-law, Ellie Hitchman of Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Lawrence Hassinger; stepmother, Bessie Hitchman; three sisters, Helen Hess, Marian Gatton, and Gustava Teeter; and two brothers, James and Richard Hitchman.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, November 21 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 until services at 10:30. The Rev. George Reece of Four Square Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North Central Ohio Hospice.
