
Mark A. 'Jack' Menke, Jr., 82, of Mansfield passed away Saturday, March 24, 2001 at SCCI Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Menke was born April 29, 1918 in Logansport, Indiana to the late Mark & Pauline Menke and has been an area resident most of his life. He was a member of the Newville Baptist Church, Perrysville and served there as a deacon. He loved his family and friends and especially enjoyed studying the Bible. He was a wonderful baker, enjoyed gardening and loved animals. Mr. Menke was an employee of the Mansfield News Journal, working there 37 ½ years, retiring as Press Room Supervisor in 1984.
Mr. Menke went to be with the Lord and is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark, III & Jenny Menke of Mansfield; two granddaughters, Emily & Heidi, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Susan 'Mary Jane' Anthony of Portland, Oregon and Sue Steiner of Westminster, Maryland; five sisters-in-law, Sandra Hayden of Houston, Texas, Jean Lemke of Corpus Christi, Texas, Beth Gage of Mansfield, Mary Gage of Troy, Ohio, and Ellen Gage of Butler; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Caroll 'Cissy' Gage Menke.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday, March 27, 2001 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. James Baker. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Christian Radio.
