Marlene Kay Smith-Perez, 38, died early Tuesday morning, December 21, 2010 at her home. Born April 30, 1972 in Mount Vernon, she is the daughter of Bonita Minton and Kenneth E. Smith. A favorite pastime of Marlene's was fishing with her uncle. She was a very strong, independent woman with a big heart. Marlene possessed a fighting spirit and never let her health issues keep her down. She attended First Assembly of God church with her aunt and uncle.
She is survived by her children, Ashley, Robert and Brian Perez of CA; mother, Bonita Smith of WA; brothers, Danny and David Smith; uncle and aunt, Larry and Sheila Smith; and best friend, Karen Morton. She is preceded in death by her father.
Marlene will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service conducted by Tom Finkey will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Friends may visit from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
