
Martha Ann Banks, 75, of Mansfield, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her home. Born January 4, 1935 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Gladys Goon Robertson. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High school in 1953 and attended Bowling Green State University. Marty was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a Mansfield area resident most of her life but had previously lived in St. Petersburg, Florida for four years. A member of the Women of the Moose since 1992, she was formerly employed at Therm-O-Disc for 10 years. Marty was active in the Mansfield Girl Scouts Sr. Troop #32 and also active with the Rainbow Girls. Her carefree spirit was demonstrated in her favorite pastimes of country line dancing and motorcycle riding. She most enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marty had many dogs and three parrots to keep her busy throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Debora K. Banks, Greg Jennifer Banks, all of Mansfield, Terry Banks Greg Finnegan of St. Petersburg, FL, John Banks, Scott Sandy Banks and Melissa Thompson, all of Mansfield; sixteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Christopher Banks.
Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Robert Stull will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1592 Grace Street, Mansfield. Additional visitation will be observed at the church from 9:00 until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
