Mary Mae Fuhrer Bocka, 88, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Born April 20, 1920 in Lexington, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Kisling Fuhrer. She retired from Lexington Concrete after 30 years of service as a secretary. Mary Mae was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Ave. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sewing, farming, gardening, and spending time outdoors.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harry J. Bocka; two daughters and son-in-law, Annette and Ray Goins of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Paula Them of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Penny Bocka of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Ray Sally Goins, Julie Tom Franke, Stephanie Michael Cascio, Sally Wade Wallace, Terry Bocka, Sherry Jim Thompson, Jim Heidi Them and Chad Missy Them; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Durkin of Mansfield; and three very special caregivers, Sharon Boyce, Nora "Cookie" Kron, and Diane Sauder. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Fuhrer; and five sisters, Martha Cordrey, Mabel Banks, Catherene Morrison, Gladys Texter, and Ruth Young.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Ave. Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery.
