
Mary Alice Burden Buck, 90, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Winchester Terrace. Born December 10, 1918, in Barberton, she was the daughter of Shelby and Ruby Lanius Burden. A 1936 graduate of Galion High School, she was owner/operator along with her husband, Dana, of Buck's Grocery and Hardware from 1947 to 1982. Mary Alice was a member of the Ontario First Church of God and Women of the Moose #47, holding a Star Recorder Degree and Academy of Friendship. She was an avid crocheter and loved to read before losing her eyesight to Macular Degeneration and also thoroughly enjoyed calling Bingo at Winchester Terrace.
Surviving are two daughters, Diana Hostetler and Patti Kay Jack Ebersole both of Mansfield; one son Robert "Bob" Phyllis Buck of Ontario; two grandchildren, Andrew Ebersole and Amanda Ebersole; four step grandchildren and two step great grandsons; a sister-in-law, Marianne Burden Appleby of Bucyrus; eight nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews; special friend, Helen Green of Mansfield; and her roommate at Winchester Terrace, Inge Brunkhorst. She married Dana Denton Buck on March 18, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Burden.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd, Mansfield where Women of the Moose Auxiliary services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti, with additional calling from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
