Mary Conrad

Mary A. Bishop Conrad, 89 of Mansfield, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born July 8, 1919 in Ashland, she was the daughter of Clyde and Ethel Gerwig Bishop. She retired from Westinghouse. Mary attended St. John's United Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling, flowers, and bowling. Mary also enjoyed watching wildlife, mushroom hunting, and had traveled to all 50 states.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra Helsel and her fiancé, Clayton Long of Mansfield; sister, Viola Beckwith of Conneaut; numerous nieces and nephews; close friends, Steve and Carolyn Meeks, and wonderful neighbors, Elmer and Millie Morehead, and Tom and Kerri Wynn. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William Helsel; second husband of 60 years, William Conrad; three brothers, George, Earl, and Paul Bishop; and three sisters, Gladys Batchler, Naomi Bryant, and Vera Lemak.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Mark Dettmer. Burial will follow in Nankin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Township Fire and Rescue.
