
Mary Magdaline Laykish Kocsovsky Russ, 83, of Mansfield died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Russ was born July 11, 1919 in Crestline, Ohio to Frank and Marie Windisch Laykish. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Katherine Klingel and Joseph Kocsovsky from Austria, Hungary. She attended Westwood Alliance Church. Mary enjoyed needlepoint, crochet and her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jay Becker of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Marjorie Russ of Westerville, Ohio; eight grandchildren Karen Bryan Flowers, Judy David Hedrick, Kathy Keith Bowen, Lori Mark Furtak, Steve Denise Russ, Lisa Higbie, Paula Kevin Craiglow, and Amy Derek Robinson; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kathleen & Jacob Flowers, Mark, Chad, & Kyle Hedrick, Casey & Emily Bowen, Erin Furtak, Elizabeth & Samantha Higbie, Drew Robinson, Damian & Miranda Blasetzky; sister, Ann R. King of Mansfield; sisters-in-law, Anna Kocsovsky and Katie Warga of Mansfield, Elizabeth Cox of Delaware, brother-in-law Robert Russ of Westlake, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Emerich Russ, adoptive parents and parents, and three brothers, Frank E. Laykish, Stephen T. Laykish and Joseph K. Kocsovsky.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday, January 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Doyle Peyton will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
