

Mary E. Whitehead, 77 of Oak Grove Manor in Mansfield died Thursday morning March 2, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield, following an extended illness. Mrs. Whitehead was born March 25, 1922 in Marietta, Ohio and has resided in the Mansfield area most of her life. She was a member of the Little Washington Congregational Church and retired from Woodville Elementary School as the school secretary.
Surviving are one son & daughter-in-law, Wayne & Marjorie Whitehead of Mansfield; one niece, Leahola Walton of Phoenix, Arizona; one nephew-in-law, Archie Jackson of Niles, Ohio; and two sisters, Mickey Degardeyn and Frieda Kovolan, both of Clarksburg, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married June 16, 1945, Jearl D. Whitehead in 1994; her parents, Paul & Marguerite Charles McWhirter; and brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday March 5, 2000 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday March 6, 2000 at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Little Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
