
Matthew A. Pallay, 21, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 05, 2008, at his residence following a one year courageous battle with cancer. Born February 14, 1987, in Mansfield, he was the son of John and Sara Kennedy Pallay. A 2005 graduate of Ontario High School, he played trombone in the band. Matt attended Bowling Green State University and prior to his illness, was studying on-line at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He enjoyed being on the computer, whether it was chatting with his friends, upgrading or trouble shooting. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents, John and Sara Pallay of Mansfield; aunts and uncles, Bruce and Cindy Kennedy of Lexington, Mike Kennedy of Mansfield, Catherine and Tad Lamb, Ed and Jo Rhodes, Rita Pallay all of Columbus, and Dick Hamman of Georgia; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Eileen Kennedy; paternal grandfather, John Paul Pallay, Jr.; his paternal grandmother and her husband, Norma and Joseph Rhodes; and an aunt, Kitty Hamman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Victory Baptist Church, 939 Cook Road at the corner of Cook and Trimble Roads, Mansfield, conducted by Rev. John A. Wiseman. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Matt to Victory Baptist Church, Hospice of North Central Ohio or Richland County Relay for Life. The family would like to thank the many people who prayed for Matt and showed love and concern for him during his illness and to Hospice of North Central Ohio and others who showed medical care and concern for him.
