

Maxine J. 'Sweetheart' Seifert, 85 of Mansfield died September 24, 2002 at Oak Grove Manor. Maxine went peacefully, after a long illness, to be with the Lord and her loved ones late Tuesday night. She was born December 14, 1916 in West Virginia and lived her entire life in the Mansfield area. Maxine retired in 1977 after 26 years with Westinghouse Corporation. She attended First Christian Church and was a life member of American Legion Post #16.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy Boyd, Brenda and William Sweval, and Susan and Gary Husbands, all of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Joann Cates and James and Marcia Cates, all of Mansfield; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Rod and Linda Zody of Mansfield; four sisters, Betty Lou Chance, Barbara Ann Marsh, Mary Ellen Gallimore, and Barbara Ann McWilliams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald A. Cates in 1957; her second husband, Charles Seifert in 1985; parents, Otto and Lulu Weinmiller Wright; son-in-law, James Boyd; sisters, Eleanor Oyster, Mildred Hockensmith, Esther Tate and Elizabeth Ritz; and brothers, John Wright, Charles Wright, Otto 'Bus' Wright, Harold Wright, William Wright and Lee Wright.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday, September 26 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
