
Michael B. Galliher, 62, of Mansfield, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, at his residence. Born March 31, 1948, in Ashland, Ohio, he was the son of Foster and Nellie Dailey Galliher. Mike grew up in Jeromesville and graduated from Hillsdale High School. After graduation he entered the United States Army Military Police. He then worked for Crane Plumbing for 36 years and following their closure, he worked for Auto Zone for 14 years. Mike was a member of Hillside First Church of God. A man of intelligence, he had an IQ of a genius and would do anything to help anyone who was in need. More than anything, Mike loved his family, friends and life in general. He was a best friend to his wife, sons and a hero to all his grandchildren. To sum Mike's life, he was a wonderful teacher and led by example and was the best Grandpa in the whole world.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Darcel Darcy L. Dalton Galliher; two sons, Chris Wendy of South Carolina and Larry Christine of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Larry, Kane, Luke and Vanyla Galliher; a sister, Dixie McQuillen of Jeromesville; three brothers, Tim Tammie Galliher of Shreve, Kerry Connie Galliher of Akron and Kenny Galliher of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dave McQuillen.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Glenn M. Phillips. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail at the funeral home prior to going to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillside First Church of God.
