Michael "Mike" Lee Hindman, 74, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026. Mike was born on December 20, 1951, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Carl and Dorothy Hindman. Proudly known as "the last Duke of Marion," Mike carried that title with pride throughout his life. He was well known for his friendly personality, sense of humor, and the lasting impression he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
A proud American, Mike honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hunley (AS-31). Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career as a semi-truck driver, retiring after many years of dedicated work with various trucking companies.
Mike dearly loved his wife Sharon of 23 years, and nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, stepfather, and grandfather whose kindness, loyalty, and unwavering love will be deeply missed.
He enjoyed assembling model cars and especially looked forward to socializing with fellow veterans at meetings, where he valued the friendships and camaraderie they shared. Mike was a proud member of the American Legion and was always willing to support local veterans and their causes.
He is survived by his daughters, Sheilia Franklin and Sherry Friend; sisters, Monica Snow and Julie (Jeff) Smith; brother, Bryan (Edna) Hindman; stepchildren, Scott (Casey) Neff, Tim (Sarah) Neff and Kim (Brad) Hill; grandchildren, Vanessa Franklin, Matthew Franklin, Nathan (Elizabeth) Friend, Jessica Friend, Allison Mullinax, Hailey Mullinax, Natalie Hill, Hannah Neff, Isaac (Alexis) Neff, Emily (Cyle) Price, Kaleb Neff and Olivia Neff; great-grandchildren, Derek Friend, Oliver Friend, Oliver Price and Tucker Price as well as many cherished family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded by his wife, Sharon (Wilfong) Hindman; and the mother of his children, Eulice Dillinger.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, from 10:00am-11:00 am at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. Memorial Service will follow beginning at 11:00 am. Mike will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions in Mike’s honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior.
Mike will be remembered for his patriotism, his dedication to his family, his generous heart, and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His legacy of service, compassion, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
