

Mick was born to Albert and Hazel Karbula in Mansfield, Ohio, on May 20, 1957. He graduated from Lexington High School and began his 40-year career with Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Crestline, Ohio, in which he advanced from general laborer to quality control engineer and finally, corporate quality representative. He graduated from Franklin University with honors earning a Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering while raising his four young children.
Those who knew him will remember Mick as a loyal friend, respected co-worker and a man devoted to his family. Mick’s greatest pride in life and his legacy are his four children. His proudest moments were sharing and celebrating their accomplishments and achievements.
An avid skier and golfer, Mick enjoyed all time spent outdoors. His summers were spent on Twin Lakes Golf Course with his golf league, and the winters were spent at Snow Trails with his friends and children. Prior to his illness, Mick and two of his children made an expedition of national parks throughout the western United States on a memorable two-week trek that took them through 17 states.
Mick was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hazel (Gilbert) Karbula, and his beloved dog, Hallie. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Joyce (Determan); children, Kristina, Jennifer, Mark and Ryan; sister, Kathy (Frank) Kline, and her children, Tammy (Tim) Danner and Bill (Stacey) Hoffman, brother, Alan (Ginny) Karbula, and his son, A.J. Karbula; brothers-in-law, Dan (Pam) Determan, Tom (Pat) Determan, Michael (Marie) Determan, Marvin (Linda) Determan, and Steve (Amy) Determan; sister-in-law, Linda (Rich) Monsen of Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many lifelong friends.
The family will receive condolences from friends and loved ones Sunday, November 27, 2016, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A celebration of Mick’s life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery
