
Mikel Roberts, 47, of Mansfield, met his Savior face to face when he died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He had been seriously ill the past two months with complications from Multiple Sclerosis. Mike was born August 2, 1956 and was a Mansfield resident all his life. A loving husband and proud father, Mike's priority was always his family being taken care of. His wisdom, love, and caring will be missed by all. He was a big Cleveland Browns fan, and was loyal to the Cleveland Indians for many years. Mike was the Parts Manager at Mansfield Motors before retiring in 1985 due to Multiple Sclerosis.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Phillips whom he married September 8, 1979; a son, SSgt Chad Mikel Roberts and fiancée, Kristen Ann Hanks; granddaughter, Hailey Ann Roberts; mother, Emma J. Roberts; mother-in-law, Irene Phillips; three sisters and three brothers and their spouses, Betty and Cris Williams, Raymond and Betty Roberts, Donald and Bonnie Roberts, Robin Hartz, Tammie and Ernest Lewis, and Steve and Pam Roberts; also surviving are one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and their spouses, Marcheta and Jim Gibson, Danny and Sherry Phillips, Jackson and Shelley Phillips, and Tim Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and aunts and uncles all whom he loved dearly; and special loved ones, Bob Tucker and Christine Roberts. He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Roberts; father-in-law, Jackson P. Phillips, Sr.; a niece, Teresa Lynn Williams; and a nephew, Joey Lee Roberts.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Sunday, June 13, 2004 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Fred Bleck and Pastor Larry Myerchin, will be held Monday, 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Family and friends are welcome to visit the family at his home following services and a dinner at Community Baptist Bible Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Baptist Bible Church in Mansfield, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
