

Nellie B. Helbig Seward, 89, of Mansfield, died Sunday morning September 15, 2002 following an extended illness. Mrs. Seward was born January 20, 1913 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, though she lived all her life in the Mansfield area. She worked many years for Reese Optical and Geriatric Center in the clerical department. Nellie was a fifty year member of the Mansfield Choral Society, and enjoyed being a part of the First Methodist Church Sewing Guild. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one son William D. Seward of Mansfield, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law Nancy and David Brickley of Mansfield, Ohio; five grandchildren Dennis, Thomas, and Timothy Seward, Christine Gerhart, and Michael Brickley; four great grandchildren Ryan and Dayna Seward, and David and Benjamin Gerhart. Mrs. Seward is also survived by a brother Robert Helbig of Mansfield, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Seward; her parents Emil and Emma Silver Helbig; three sisters; and four brothers.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday September 17, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 18, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Dr. Blake Wagner Sr. Interment will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Mrs. Seward's name to the Alzheimer Foundation.
