Nona Burke

Nona Beatrice Burke, age 93, passed away Wednesday morning, February 13, 2013 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Born November 27, 1919 in Senoia, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late James Ray and Pearl Elder Ray.

Nona possessed a very giving nature, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed showing her love by feeding people. In her spare time, she loved watching baseball.

She is survived by seven children, James Thomas Jones, Jr., Richard D. Jones, Kenneth D. (Vera) Jones, David L. Burke, Barbara J. Helm, Emma Jones Quander, all of Mansfield and Marcel R. Burke of Whitehall, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; and special niece and caregiver, Renatha Gilmore. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Thomas Jones, Sr.; second husband, Russell H. Burke; one son, Jerry Allen Burke; her parents; two sons-in-law, John Helm and Lewis Quander; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Jones; and four brothers.

Friends and family may visit from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Johnny Heckard officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may visit at the home of her daughters each evening from 4-8 p.m. until the day of the funeral, Barbara Helm, 438 Hedeen Drive and Emma Jones Quander, 240 Cherry Hill Rd.
