Norma Hairston

Norma Jean Hairston, 75, of Mansfield, died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Born March 2, 1933 in Lucas, she was the daughter of Delner and Adlan Stahl Sowash. She retired as a medical receptionist, working for various doctors in the area. Norma Jean was also an EMT with Franklin Township Rescue Squad. She was a member of the Eastern Star Angelus Chapter Number 322, VFW Ladies Auxiliary #9943 and the Crestview Athletic Boosters. Norma Jean enjoyed outdoor activities, including camping and fishing.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Jolene Hairston, and William Charles Hairston, Jr., all of Mansfield; grandchildren, Bethany Ben Williams of Ashland and Matthew Hairston of Mansfield; brother, Donald Rosemary Sowash of Mansfield; two sisters, Evelyn Shaffer and Keitha Robert Allen, all of Mansfield; and nieces and nephews, James Dawn Sowash of San Diego, California, Jennifer Sowash of Columbus, Michael Marilyn Allen of Bucyrus, Robert Marlene Allen of Columbus, and Diane Nielsen of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; niece, Gail Jean Shaffer Prion; and brother-in-law, Homer Shaffer.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring. Please contact a family member for further information.
