Norman “Norm” Carol McCracken, 91, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on November 23, 2025. Born in Morrow County, Ohio, on October 5, 1934, Norm was the son of Roma and Edith (Scott) McCracken. He was one of three children and grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and community.
A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School in 1953, Norm went on to have a fulfilling career, most notably serving as the Transportation Director at Mansfield Tire for many years. He was also an active member of the Central Ohio Traffic Club. Outside of work, Norm was deeply involved in his faith as a member of First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield. Known for his practical skills, Norm was a great "fix-it" man and could repair almost anything that came his way.
On April 15, 1955, he married Anna Marie Nelson, and they enjoyed a loving marriage for many years until her passing. Norm was also a proud member of the Masons and made lasting friendships throughout his life.
Norm is survived by his daughter, Linda Thompson (Richard) of Mansfield, OH; his son, Douglas McCracken (Laura) of Bellville, OH; his sister, Marlene Snider; and his six grandchildren: Adam Thompson, Erin White, Olivia Gordon (Bret), Ellery Martinko (Matt), Eden Thompson, and Kate McCracken. Norm was also the proud great-grandfather of seven: Bowen White, Charlotte White, Colin Gordon, Kennedy Gordon, Hudson Martinko, Davis Martinko, and Caroline Thompson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Anna Marie; his brother Lowell McCracken; and his grandson-in-law Brian White.
A visitation will be held at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, OH, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Paul Lintern. Norm will be laid to rest at Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Norm's memory.
