Norman Allen Muddiman, 61, of Mansfield, passed away Monday morning, March 27, 2017, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born November 29, 1955, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Norman Brinkley Muddiman and Nancy (Gibson) Muddiman.
In his younger years, Norman enjoyed bowling, and later, fishing and hunting. He was the Captain of a charter boat operating on Lake Erie for several years. He loved all sports, but football and basketball were by far his favorites. Very well informed of the rules, he served as a referee for football, baseball and basketball over the years. Norman was a tireless supporter of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers and followed the OSU Buckeyes faithfully.
Norman was a fighter and valiantly battled his disease with courage. He was strong minded too. If he set his mind to something, he would work hard to achieve his goal. He was a great supporter of his family and they will long remember his sacrifices made and advice given to all of them. Norman had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He was a people person and enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends very much. In his free time, he enjoyed watching movies of all genres.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Jacob) Garber; son, Norman (Charlene) Muddiman II; grandchildren; Alyssa Hamm, Erin Hamm, Josie Adkins, Tristian Garber and Adam Muddiman; a great-grandchild, his honorary "little buddy", Adrien; and good friend, Mel Schrock. Norman is also survived by a sister, Lorie Rhodes of Hot Springs, AR; and five nieces and nephews, TJ Giusti, Maria Giusti, Norman Denver Muddiman, Selena Muddiman and Natasha Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Marlow "Shorty" and Mary Cermeans; and sister, Vickey Muddiman Lamb.
A memorial gathering celebrating Norman's life will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at 2333 Lakewood Drive, Mansfield, Ohio. Anyone attending please feel free to wear clothing representing any of Norman's favorite teams. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
The family wishes to thank the Radiation/Oncology Team of Block O at the James Cancer Center and all the staff at Ross Heart Hospital for the exceptional care given to Norman during his stay.
