

Norman "Don" Ray, 70, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born August 31, 1945, to Roby and Molly (Hess) Ray and was a long time Mansfield area resident.
He retired from Bunting Bearing after 41 years of service. Don was a honest man and thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his family. He not only was a great provider, but a loving husband, and great father and grandfather who instilled in his children the honesty and integrity that defined him.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR and his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Being outdoors, fishing and camping, or working in his yard, was where Don could be found in his spare time. He was a member of Amvets Post #26.
Don is survived by his wife, Freda (Breedlove) Ray; two daughters, Christina (Jody) Thomas and Donna (Darren) Watts; three grandchildren, Cody Ray and Cassandra Sayre and Ryan Watts; three great-grandsons, Xander, Zayne and Zolan Sayre; three brothers, Curtis (Janice) Ray, Dallas Ray and Terry (Carolyn) Ray; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bill and Vanessa Ruby. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Ray; three sisters, Bonnie Ray, Betty Vance and Evelyn Breedlove; and a nephew, Ronnie Vance.
The family would like to thank Drs. Padival and Sringeri for all their wonderful care.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Danny Green will be held Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m. at Mansfield Stewart Road Church of God, 1425 Stewart Road, Mansfield, Ohio. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
