

Oatha Smyth, 96, of Mansfield died Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Smyth was born April 26, 1906 in Perry County, Kentucky living in the Mansfield area most of her life. She enjoyed attending church services and meetings at Stiving Road Freewill Baptist Church and spending time with her family. She previously enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlepoint, fishing and camping.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Earl & Loretta Smith of Kentucky, Lou Edward & Mary Smith and Eugene & Donna Smith, all of Mansfield, and Benny Ray & Carol Smith of Perrysville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Reba & Louie Lamber, Ernestine Cline and Christine Matheny, all of Mansfield; 31 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; 64 great great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; a great great-grandchild on the way; a former daughter-in-law, Mary M. Smith of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lou & Dulcenia Davidson Crawford; her husband, Oscar Warren Smyth; two sons, Hershel and William Ray Smith; 12 brothers and sisters; two sons-in-law, Ralph Matheny and Dewy Cline; and two daughters-in-law, Elsie Smith and Mary Jane Smith
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Clifford E. Tackett. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.
