
Orville F. Dodson, 80, of Mansfield, died Monday evening, January 9, 2006 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 16, 1925 in Bristol, Tennessee, he was the son of Albert Carlisle and Flossie Smith Dodson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Dodson retired from Westinghouse after 30 years of service. A member of the American Legion Post #16 and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also had a keen interest in lapidary, which is the polishing, cutting, and engraving of precious stone.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Denise Dodson of Crestline; one daughter and son-in-law, Enola and David Kelley; three grandchildren, Joshua Kelley of Boise, Idaho, Brady Dodson and his fiancée, Jaclyn Hancock of Columbus, and Abby Dodson of Ontario; one sister Odelene Castiel of Bristol, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roberta Dodson on March 14, 2004; and two sisters, Delores Lambert and Betty Nichols.
Military graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Tim Storms and the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Memorial contributions may be made to the MedCentral Foundation.
