

Phillip Scott Vogt, 59, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Friday, December 23, 2016 at Shelby Pointe from health complications. He was born November 26, 1957 in Mansfield to Shirley (Frisch) and Robert J. Vogt.
He graduated from Madison High School in 1976. While in school, he pitched Little League baseball and in High School he pitched Varsity baseball. After graduating he played several years pitching softball for a traveling league from Mansfield. The Cleveland Indians were his favorite baseball team.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Vogt of Mansfield; two sisters, Laurie (Toby) Thomas of Mansfield and Cheryl (David) Gilbert of Mifflin; nieces, Kassie Thomas and Alissa Thomas and her son, Gunnar Miller of Mansfield, Andrea (Scott) Haggett and their children, Ashley, Sidney and Devin of Colorado; nephews, Scott (Kim) Vogt and son, Garrett Newcomer of Colorado. Also surviving are an aunt, Martha Vogt (Larry) Timbers of Willoughby, Ohio; several cousins; and a very faithful friend and buddy from school, Tom Jones of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Vogt in 1971; brother, Russell J. Vogt in 2013; maternal grandparents, Harvey and Lucille (Berry) Frisch; paternal grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Vogt; an uncle, Peter J. Vogt; and an aunt and uncle, Norma (Frisch) and Earl Long of Texas.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio 44906.
