Phyllis Gregory

Phyllis Carol Gregory, 66, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Hospice House in Ashland. Born January 3, 1944, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of G. Merle and E. Marjorie Houpt Kurtz. Phyllis was a member of Crossroads Community Church and retired from Richland County Childrens Services. She was a dedicated volunteer at Gorman Nature Center, RSVP, CASA, Parent Aide Program and Bridge the Gap, which she originally founded.

Surviving are her husband, Clinton Dale Gregory, whom she married May 21, 1986; a son, Dan Jeanne Carroll; a daughter, Jeanette Scott Chase; six grandchildren, Miranda Ramey, Chelsea Chase, Nick Chase, Stacy, Steven, and Crystal Carroll; three great-grandchildren, Destiny and Caden Ramey and Holden Carroll; and two sisters, Della Bob Thompson and Doris Larry Black. She was preceded in death by her sister, Flora Terrell.

Phyllis led a simple life. She loved nature, her cats and all wildlife. Phyllis generously donated her body to further research at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
