

A homemaker, Phyllis grew up in Cleveland. She met her husband, John, in 1984 and they married in 1985. She was very proud of her Slovenian, Hungarian, Rom and Jewish background and was lifetime member of the Slovenian National Home. A devout Catholic, Phyllis loved God and Angels. She enjoyed the swimming pool at her house and enjoyed art having studied it extensively. Phyllis loved shopping especially for shoes and her German Shepherd, Dash.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Thornton; three children, Jennifer Zak, Greg Zakrajsek and Jeffrey (Renee) Thornton; her grandchildren, Sara Juhn, Louis Yerse, Maria Yerse, Benjamin Yerse, Marc Thornton, Tess Thornton and Hannah McKeen; her former husband and friend, Harold Zakrajsek; and her dog, Dash.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Hotchkiss and a granddaughter, Sara Jane.
A Gathering will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Wappner Cremation Center, 1327 Ashland Road, Mansfield.
