

Ray Porter, 92, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Monday evening, October 5, 2015, at Hospice House in Ashland. He was born May 23, 1923, in Mill Creek, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Stewart and Opal (Jarrels) Porter. He was the oldest of eighteen children.
Ray moved to Mansfield and began his working career at AK Steel/Empire-Reeves. He retired as an electrician with 38 years of service. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling to Florida, where he made his home from October to June for 25 years. He also enjoyed his fishing excursions with his friends, Cliff and Kevin. His family was most important to Ray and he will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wanda (Payton) Porter; two sons, John (Lori) Porter and David (Pam) Porter; two grandchildren, Travis (Jessica) Porter and Erica Bays; five great-grandchildren, Evan and Stella Porter, Brooklyn Forsythe and Brianna and Bridgette Bays; several siblings; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie Binion; and four siblings, Fred, Bessie, Jessie and Lutie Porter.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario, Ohio. The family will have additional visitation at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, Kentucky, on Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 11:00 am. to 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Porter Workman Cemetery.
