
Raymond ''Ray'' W. Bauer, age 78, formerly of Mansfield died Saturday February 17, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, Florida. Mr. Bauer was born March 20, 1922 in Mansfield residing in the area most of his life before moving to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1987. He graduated from Mansfield High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate First Class. Mr. Bauer retired from General Foods as a Sales Representative after 28 years of service. He was a member of Tomoka Christian Church, Venus Masonic Lodge #152 F & AM, and Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ray enjoyed Nascar Racing and he and Gladys owned several antique cars including a 1928 Plymouth.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Gladys Marie Kerr Bauer; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cindy Bauer of Indianapolis, Indiana; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Heston of Hilton Head, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Adam, Bethany and Anne Bauer and Karen and Colin Heston; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. and Martha E. Bauer.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday February 22, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 23, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Paul Haney. Military graveside services will be held in Mansfield Cemetery.
