

Reed M. Daniel, 91, of Mansfield, died Sunday evening, March 1, 2015, in OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born August 23, 1923, in Clay County, Tennessee, to the late Martin Luther and Heleen (Daniel) Daniel.
Reed was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. He married the love of his life, RoseAnn Micklethwaite, on December 5, 1948, in Greenup, Kentucky. He then worked at Westinghouse for 13 years and retired from Therm-O-Disc after 24 1/2 years. Known for his delicious homemade wine, he was very easy going and never met a stranger. Reed was proud of his Cherokee heritage. He was an avid mushroom and ginseng hunter and fisherman. Family was most important to him and he enjoyed going to his great-grandchildren's games and being a part of their lives.
When he was able, he was a very active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where he was also baptized.
He is survived by two daughters, Aimee Medina and Ellen (Ron) Fugitt, both of Mansfield; and eight grandchildren, Mari Medina (Rick Jensen), Amanda (Rob) Taylor, Jonathan Medina, Ashley (Nick) Robles, Jamie Fugitt, Jessica Fugitt (Brad Chambers), Corey Fugitt (Barbara Lewis) and Chad Fugitt. Reed is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren: Ian, Noah, and Elijah Jensen; Bryan, Nathan and Amaris Taylor; Chloe, Henry and Mari Medina; Ethan, Evan and Elliott Robles; Patience and Ashton Fugitt; and Bridget Smith; one great-great granddaughter, Cypress Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, RoseAnn Daniel; a great-grandson, Legend Fugitt; five brothers, Henry, Cay, Fred, Mayford and Paul Daniel; and three sisters, Billie Maxwell, Tessi White and Mertie White.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the former St. Luke's Lutheran Church (now Church Requel), 2 Marion Avenue, Mansfield. Rev. Paul Lintern and Pastor Mark Pierce will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
