
Richard E. Baer, 80, of Mansfield, died late Saturday evening, August 27, 2005, at Good Shepherd Home in Ashland. Born January 8, 1925, in Lucas, he was the son of Glenn F. and Wilda E. Van Scoyoc Baer. He was employed as a service manager at D & W Paint until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Baer attended various spray equipment schools to further his knowledge in his trade. He attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35 F. & A.M., and D.A.V. #21. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 157th Infantry of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Utt of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Vicki Baer of Burke, Va.; three grandsons; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Velma Berry Baer.
Funeral services conducted by Dr. Pentti Maki will be held Thursday, September 1, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m. Military graveside services will follow in Ashland County Memorial Park. A reception following the graveside services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Mansfield.
