
Richard H. Myers, 89, of Mansfield, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at his home. Born May 30, 1917, in West Pullman, Illinois, he was the son of Eleazer and Etta Hughes Myers. He was a 1939 graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology earning a degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Myers was employed with ITT for 35 years, first as Director of Engineering for Avionics Division in Nutley, New Jersey and then Vice President of the ITT Electrophysics Labs in Columbia, Maryland. He attended Shenandoah Christian Church. His many interests included gardening, ham radio operation, church choir, Christian music ministry, zoning development and raising quarter horses.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sarah Rebecca Burgett Myers; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Richard and Gail Myers of Loudonville and Kenneth Edwin and Terrie Myers of Manchester, Maryland; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Ruth and Walter Lake of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Collins.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Shenandoah Christian Church, Shiloh, with Tom McFadden officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Shenandoah Christian Church. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
