Richard Newman

April 2, 2001 at Lakewood Hospital. Mr. Newman was born April 6, 1949 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the Rev. Dr. William C. & Ruth M. Newman. He graduated from Malabar High School after spending a year as a foreign exchange student in Sweden sponsored by his church, First Christian Church of Mansfield. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lone Mountain College in California and received his Master of Social Work degree at the University of California at Fresno. He worked as a coordinator of medical and social work at the Free Clinic in Cleveland for several years and currently was employed by the AIDS Task Force of Greater Cleveland as the house manager of a home for people living with AIDS. He was a very compassionate and loving person who assisted many men and women in the Cleveland area who were suffering with AIDS.

He is survived by his parents, William & Ruth Newman; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky & Ed Hoffmann of Mansfield, Rosalie & Jerry Wells of Mound, Minnesota, and Kathy & Mark Endres of Chanhassen, Minnesota; and four nieces and two nephews.

A memorial services will be held at First Christian Church Saturday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Terry Marsh. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church Memorial Fund. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
